As a Software Engineer Intern at MFC, you will join a large network of software professionals implementing cutting-edge technologies on existing and new development platforms. You will help solve some of the world's most difficult challenges in areas such as aircraft flight command and control, air traffic control, health care, and homeland defense. The matrix engineering and technology organization allows you to work on multiple programs over your career.

What You Will Be Doing

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Developing software
• Integrating features and algorithms into C/C++ applications
• Planning, conducting, and coordinating software development activities
• Designing, developing, documenting, testing, and debugging software with logical and mathematical solutions to business or mission problems
• Applying knowledge of computer hardware and software, subject matter, information processing techniques, and system user input to develop software
• Correcting program errors, preparing operating instructions, compiling program documentation, and analyzing system capabilities to resolve program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls

Basic Qualifications

• Must be working towards a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related software discipline
• Demonstrated software development experience in C++
• Experience working with operating systems or familiarity with OS concepts (Linux, Windows, Unix, VxWorks, or Operating Systems coursework)
• Ability to obtain DoD Clearance
• Must be a US Citizen

Desired Skills

• Experience with operating systems or familiarity with OS concepts (Linux, Windows, Unix, VxWorks, etc.)
• Hardware experience (Arduino, STMxx, Xilinx, or any FPGA programmable software)
• Strong understanding of C++ Object Oriented design and inheritance concepts
• Understanding of basic multi-threading concepts
• Working with large code bases
• DevSecOps tool chain experience (Git, GitHub, BitBucket)
• Software configuration management
• Full software life-cycle development
• Software integration and debugging techniques
• Demonstrated software development experience in C or Python
• Familiarity with Agile practices
• Prior embedded internships are a bonus, but not required

Pay Information

• Annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs may be offered depending on the position. Payments under these programs are not guaranteed and can vary from year to year.
• For Washington state applicants only: Non-represented full-time employees accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) and receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full-time employees accrue 6.67 hours of vacation per month, up to 52 hours of sick leave annually, and receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date.
