Apply on Cadence's site (opens in a new tab)Are you enrolled in an engineering program and looking for a summer 2027 internship with a leading Silicon Valley technology company? The Cadence Design Systems Physical System Design and Analysis (PSDA) Team works with industry-leading computer aided engineering (CAE) tools and collaborates with technical experts on simulation and analysis of complex physical systems. Interns will gain insight into advanced systems technologies, see how a global technology company operates, and learn how technical teams solve difficult engineering problems.
Cadence is a global leader in electronic and systems design, building on more than 35 years of computational software expertise. Its Intelligent System Design strategy delivers software, hardware, and intellectual property that turn silicon, systems, and electronic design concepts into reality. Cadence serves many of the world's most innovative companies, enabling electronic products from chips and boards to complete systems for markets such as consumer electronics, hyperscale computing, 5G communications, automotive, aerospace, industrial, and healthcare.
The internship is based in San Jose, California. Interns take part in a three-month, cohort-based program with peers from across the United States. The program offers hands-on training in engineering analysis, system design and tools, digital and analog IC design, advanced verification, hardware emulation, and the application of artificial intelligence across these areas. Interns also learn from technical experts and application engineers who provide design services, technical sales support, and customer support to Cadence's most advanced customers. The program is scheduled for summer 2027.
The ideal candidate is a rising senior pursuing a bachelor's degree in engineering (mechanical, aerospace, electrical, or computer) or another STEM discipline at an accredited university. Exceptional master's degree students will also be considered. Experience with computer aided engineering (CAE), electronic design automation (EDA), foundational systems design or simulation, or AI use cases is preferred. Candidates should manage multiple complex assignments and show strong communication, presentation, assessment, and analytical skills.
Cadence's core values shape how the team works, debates, cares, questions, and innovates together. The company describes itself as One Cadence, One Team. Cadence creates technologies that modern life depends on, providing the software, hardware, and intellectual property used to design advanced semiconductor chips. Its culture has been recognized on FORTUNE Magazine's 100 Best Companies to Work For list and by the Great Place To Work Institute around the globe.
