Join Amgen's Mission of Serving Patients

Amgen's shared mission is to serve patients living with serious illnesses. Since 1980, the company has helped pioneer biotech in the fight against some of the world's toughest diseases. Its four therapeutic areas are Oncology, Inflammation, General Medicine, and Rare Disease, and it is advancing medicines for cancer, heart disease, inflammatory conditions, rare diseases, and obesity-related conditions.

Amgen's culture is collaborative, innovative, and science based. Team members research, manufacture, and deliver medicines that help people live longer, fuller lives.

What You Will Do

During this program, you will support research into human-relevant in vitro assays for drug safety testing. Drug safety testing helps identify potential safety concerns early and informs medicine development decisions. Many established assays use 2D cell cultures, which may not fully capture human biology, so more human-relevant models may make safety assessments more informative.

  • Perform laboratory studies using human cell culture models.
  • Assist with experiments that assess cellular responses relevant to drug safety.
  • Record, organize, and analyze experimental data.
  • Compare findings across assay conditions and cell types to evaluate assay performance.
  • Present results and observations to the research team.
  • Follow laboratory procedures and safety practices.

Program Eligibility Requirements

  • Expected completion of one year of study at an accredited college or university before the internship starts
  • Expected continued enrollment at an accredited college or university after the internship
  • Student must be located in the United States for the duration of the program
  • Must be available to work a full-time schedule

  • Interest in drug development, cell biology, laboratory research, and improving human-relevant in vitro safety assays.
