About the job
At U.S. Bank, the goal is to help customers and businesses make better financial decisions and to help the communities we serve grow and succeed. Each person brings their own potential, and careers here offer room to try new things, learn new skills and find what you do well from Day One.
Job Description
Our Payments team
Payments sit at the center of how businesses operate, grow and connect with customers. U.S. Bank helps businesses move and manage money through merchant acquiring, card issuing and money movement capabilities. Payment Sales teams connect these solutions to clients' key business needs by combining relationship management, strategic thinking and payments expertise.
The Payment Sales internship is designed for people starting their careers in one of the most dynamic areas of financial services. Based in Minneapolis or Chicago, you will work alongside experienced sales professionals who support clients ranging from small and mid-sized businesses to large multinational corporations and financial institutions. You will build payments knowledge and gain hands-on experience supporting client relationships and developing solutions to real business needs.
What you'll do
The 10-week paid internship covers payments, consultative sales, customer discovery and relationship management. You will build business and product skills through project work, on-the-job learning, mentorship and a community of peers and advisors. You will also see how sales teams work with product, analytics, marketing, implementation, risk and relationship management groups to deliver value.
As a Payment Sales Intern, you will:
- Support consultative sales work, including market and prospect research, customer discovery preparation, opportunity identification and client recommendations.
- Analyze industry and client data to spot trends, needs and opportunities. Use AI models to segment clients, predict behaviors and personalize service.
- Help develop presentations, proposals, sales materials and business cases that explain the value of payment solutions.
- Work with sales professionals and cross-functional teams to see how opportunities move from discovery to recommendation, implementation and ongoing support.
- Build relationship, communication and financial skills through training, mentorship and exposure to senior leaders.
- Own projects that address a business opportunity or customer need, then present findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Join cohort activities such as social events, volunteer opportunities and development workshops.
Who we're looking for
We are looking for curious students with strong interpersonal skills who are interested in sales, relationship management, financial services and the payments industry. Strong candidates are comfortable working with data and ambiguity, enjoy collaborating and can turn information into clear, practical recommendations.
Internship benefits
- Hands-on work that affects the business and customer experience.
- Networking with senior leadership, U.S. Bank team members and fellow interns.
- Structured learning, mentorship and professional development.
- Potential consideration for full-time opportunities upon graduation.

This role is hybrid. Interns spend three or more days per week at the listed U.S. Bank location, with flexibility on other working days. Interns work approximately 40 hours each week during the internship.
Benefits
