Software Engineering Co-op

Join the Boeing Platforms department engineering team as a principal software engineer. The engineer will help with requirements capture and design and develop embedded software in C++ for the A661 Graphics Server. The candidate will also test and verify the developed software to Design Assurance Level A fidelity per DO-178C standard.

Immerse yourself in a full-time, Monday-Friday co-op session, running January-August (including the Spring semester; it is expected students will take a semester off from coursework to fully engage with this working mentorship opportunity).

What You Will Do

• Contribute to Software Requirements, Design, Code, and Verification of the cockpit display system's graphics server.
• Understand Collins Aerospace processes related to software development and verification and apply them to current projects.
• Work with desktop computer in an office environment and with target hardware in an engineering lab to achieve the goal of delivering a high-quality software product within schedule and cost constraints.

What You Will Learn

• Identify the root cause of moderate to complex software issues using appropriate debug and analysis tools.
• Clearly summarize encountered technical software issues to project leadership in a timely fashion.
• Work together in a collaborative team that is part of multi large systems.
• Full life cycle development of DO-178 DAL A certified software.

Qualifications You Must Have

• Must be pursuing Bachelor's or Advanced degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) discipline and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.
• Must have a minimum of 29 hours of credit by the start of the internship / co-op session.
• Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Demonstrated interest in embedded software solutions and board-level device drivers.
• Programming experience in C, C++ and/or Python.
• Comfortable with real-time operating system and object-oriented programming concepts.
• Experience with all phases of the software development life cycle.
• Energetic and proactive self-starter with strong interpersonal and communications skills.
• Prior RTX internship, co-op, or work experience.

• Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
