About Rocket Lab

Rocket Lab is an end-to-end space company that builds rockets, spacecraft, and critical subsystems. The company supports connectivity and national security while working toward missions to the Moon, Mars, and beyond. The team moves quickly, builds real hardware for meaningful missions, and works to make the difficult routine.

Business Development

The Business Development team connects government and commercial customers with Rocket Lab's mission solutions across launch and space systems. Team members work closely with new and existing customers to understand their needs and build tailored solutions. Strong relationships with customers, engineering, and operations teams are central to the role.

The Role

Based at Rocket Lab's site in Littleton, CO, the HASTE Business Development & Strategy Engineer is an early-career role focused on hypersonic flight testing, national security, and business development. You will help grow the HASTE (Hypersonic Accelerator Suborbital Test Electron) business and pursue new opportunities that support the nation's hypersonic test and evaluation needs.

As part of the Global Launch Services (GLS) Business Development team, you will work alongside experienced professionals and collaborate with Engineering, Mission Management, Production, and other teams. You will report directly to the Director of Business Development, HASTE, and build experience in opportunity identification, market and competitive analysis, capture and proposal work, and developing mission concepts and business cases.

What You Will Do

  • Draft proposals for new business opportunities with the Business Development and Engineering teams.
  • Track opportunities, analyze pipeline activity, and forecast demand for HASTE capabilities.
  • Coordinate with Engineering to assess mission requirements and prepare timely technical responses to HASTE inquiries.
  • Work with Production and Engineering to set realistic NRE timelines and launch dates for future missions.
  • Work with Communications and Business Development to maintain and improve HASTE marketing materials, data sheets, and user guides.
  • Partner with Engineering to identify technical gaps and improve customer-facing technical documentation.
  • Use internal tools, including Salesforce, to track leads, opportunities, and proposals, and support Business Development reporting and KPI development.
  • Support launch service agreements, technical assistance agreements, and non-disclosure agreements, along with Jira ticket creation, tracking, and prioritization.
  • Stay current on the suborbital launch and hypersonic test markets, including competitor capabilities, customer demand, and emerging trends, to support sales forecasting, pricing strategy, business planning, and HASTE product development.

This position may require prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, computer work, and occasional exposure to moderate levels of noise, dust, and fumes in production areas.

What to Expect

Rocket Lab's people out-think, out-work, and out-pace. The team supports one another, sets egos aside, and takes on every task, big or small. They work well under pressure and to tight deadlines, focusing on how to deliver rather than on the obstacles in the way.
