Process Engineering Co-Op Johnson Controls

What you will do

Johnson Controls is looking for a Process Engineering Co-op to help develop, optimize, and standardize advanced manufacturing processes. You will work with engineering teams to improve process performance, support production scale-up, and build testing and analysis methods that improve product quality and operational excellence.

This role offers hands-on experience in process development, materials characterization, quality control, statistical analysis, and manufacturing innovation. The ideal candidate is curious, adaptable, and eager to solve technical problems in a fast-paced engineering environment.

How you will do it

• Tune manufacturing process parameters to improve performance, consistency, and production outcomes.
• Support quality control and process improvement efforts tied to production scale-up.
• Develop and perform surface characterization testing and metallographic inspections.
• Run electron microscopy and optical microscopy analysis to evaluate material and process performance.
• Develop, document, and carry out mechanical testing methods.
• Design and execute Design of Experiments (DOE) and perform statistical analysis to support process optimization.
• Use manufacturing equipment, hardware, and software to produce sample parts and test specimens.
• Work with cross-functional engineering teams to evaluate machine performance and recommend improvements.
• Build automated data collection, reporting, and statistical analysis tools to monitor quality metrics.
• Document testing results, process changes, and engineering findings clearly and effectively.
