Process Development Engineer 1

Process Development Engineering at Dell Technologies spans industrial, manufacturing, electrical and mechanical engineering disciplines. The team determines the most effective process for assembling Dell products at scale, including designing systems and equipment, training team members, and implementing enhancements for faster production. The team estimates manufacturing costs, determines time standards, and recommends tooling and process requirements, with the ability to innovate and implement cutting-edge factory technologies such as robotics, cobots, and vision systems. The team leads Engineering Change Management across our product life cycles.

What you'll achieve

As a Process Development Engineer 1, you will support Global Operations Storage and Solutions manufacturing and drive productivity improvements with a focus on quality. You will work with local organizations such as Operations, Quality, Test Engineering, and EH&S to drive key metrics and initiatives. You will have high visibility across Global Operations, including Planning, Operations, and Finance, to determine manufacturing cost, timing, capacity, and equipment requirements.

You will:

  • Support Manufacturing Operations to initiate process improvements that boost factory output and reduce cycle time.
  • Collaborate with other engineers and group teams on projects to exchange information and assist with project completion.
  • Create, update, and maintain procedures, methods, operation sequences, and processes for manufacturing sub-assemblies, final assemblies, and solutions.
  • Investigate and vet new material handling and equipment for production use.
  • Implement new tools and equipment and provide operator training per EH&S requirements.
  • Work closely with engineers and operations management to fulfill internal customer needs and communicate results, which may include reviewing parts drawings, specifications, and other engineering data.
  • Estimate manufacturing costs, determine time standards, and recommend tooling and process requirements for new or existing product lines, including automation.
  • Maintain records and reporting systems for coordinating manufacturing operations.
  • Ensure timely introduction of new products into manufacturing while maintaining the highest quality levels.
  • Lead Engineering Change Management across product life cycles.
  • Collaborate with Planning, Operations, and Finance to plan budgets and implement capacity and equipment requirements.

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Good PC skills and full competence in MS Office tools including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Strong engineering problem-solving, interpersonal communication, and decision-making skills.

Desirable Requirements

  • Previous experience in Manufacturing or Process engineering (or related projects).
  • Automation support experience (robotics, cobots, vision systems, etc.).
