About the job

Merrill Wealth Management is one of the largest goals-based wealth management businesses in the world. It provides investment products and services, along with planning for retirement, education, legacy, and other life goals, to individuals, companies, and institutions.

Merrill's Financial Advisors and Wealth Management Client Associates help clients pursue the life they envision through a personal relationship with their advisory team. Merrill is committed to an in-office culture that supports collaboration, engagement, and career development, with flexibility based on role responsibilities and business needs.

About the Advisor Development Program

The Advisor Development Program is designed for people ready to change careers and become a Financial Advisor. The Wealth Management Client Associate (WMCA - ADP) role is an entry point into the program, with the end goal of becoming a full-scale Financial Advisor at Merrill. In this role you provide client service support to multiple Financial Advisors (FAs).

Licensing and Progression

You will begin by obtaining your Securities Industry licenses, with dedicated study time for the Securities Industry Essentials (SIE), Series 7, and Series 66 exams. The SIE, Series 7 and Series 66 must be completed within 120 days (63 and 65 are accepted in place of 66 if previously held). After licensing, you will learn the foundational skills for the role.

Once you reach key milestones, including proficiency in your current role and completing experiential activities that show your ability to become an advisor, you will move into the next stage as a Financial Advisor trainee. You will then build a book of business while working in a Merrill office, managing client relationships and guiding clients with advice and solutions. Completing your performance requirements as a trainee leads to becoming a Merrill Financial Advisor, with ongoing programs, tools, and resources along the way.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the most frequent point of contact within Merrill for FAs' clients and act as a resource for the team
  • Partner with Financial Advisors, Client Relationship Managers, and Market Supervision Managers on client servicing, risk, investments, and banking products
  • Educate clients on the bank's service and banking offerings and promote banking in their day-to-day practices
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness in client materials and follow up on client and FA requests
  • Help keep practices aligned with bank policies and procedures to protect clients and manage risk
  • Support business development, investment solutions, and business management for multiple FAs
  • Work toward developing a book of business and meeting performance goals, including prospecting, referrals, and mandated training

What We Offer

  • World-class training and onboarding programs
  • One-on-one coaching from the Academy at Bank of America and local leadership
  • A consultative approach to business knowledge and client solutions
  • Collaboration with core banking and investment partners across Bank of America and Merrill

This position is subject to SAFE Act registration requirements. You must register with the federal registry system, complete the required background check, and stay in good standing. Failure to obtain or maintain registration may result in immediate termination.
