Mechanical Design Engineer Intern

The Small Airborne Effectors Division, within the Leidos Kinetic Effects Business Area, is offering a Mechanical Design Engineer Summer Intern position at our Huntsville, AL campus. This role supports various design and integration programs related to missile systems and unmanned aircraft. It is a dynamic opportunity for mechanical engineering interns to work on multidisciplinary projects in the airborne systems arena.

Primary Responsibilities

• Support engineering design and integration activities for airborne systems, including missiles and unmanned aircraft.
• Develop conceptual CAD models and produce engineering drawings.
• Collaborate with project teams to formulate innovative solutions for complex problems and products across a broad range of applications.
• Work in a lab environment testing and assembling hardware.

Basic Qualifications

• Actively pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from an ABET accredited college or university.
• Must be a US Citizen.
• Overall GPA of 3.2 or above.
• Ability to perform physical work, including lifting up to 30 lbs.
• Knowledge of and ability to use common hand tools.
• Willingness to work in-office in Huntsville, AL.

Preferred Qualifications

• Understanding of ASME Y14.5 GD&T standard.
• Experience with SolidWorks CAD software.
• Desire to solve complex technical problems and learn from a team of experienced engineers.
