Management Development Program 2027 (IS Business Architecture)

Overview

As a member of the Management Development Program (MDP), you will participate in ten weeks of Core Training and one year of On-the-Job training (OJT). Core Training includes classroom sessions, observations of departmental presentations, interaction with senior management, peer networking, and team-based group project assignments. OJT responsibilities vary by department and are assigned by the department manager. You may also be assigned additional projects by the department manager or Leadership Development Manager.

Primary Responsibilities

• Participate in and complete a one-year, non-rotational training program while adding value to your assigned department. Receive job-specific training, general banking, communication and leadership training, and personalized coaching and feedback. Performance is measured through objective test scores, peer and sponsor feedback, facilitator feedback, manager feedback, final assessment, and year-end performance appraisal.
• Core Training: Engage in training throughout the year to learn banking, basic financial skills, technical skills, and leadership/interpersonal skills. Develop a solid understanding of banking functions, processes, and operations.
• Group Projects: Work with a team of peers on project assignments, building relationships with team members, project sponsors, internal and external contacts, and senior management. Present recommendations and potential solutions to senior management at the conclusion of each project.
• On-the-Job Training: Combine fundamental skills from core training with job-specific training in departmental policies, procedures, systems, and products. Upon completion of the MDP, you will have the basic skills to contribute as an individual contributor and/or manager in your assigned department.
• Complete tasks in compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and support the Company's compliance efforts.
• Understand and adhere to the Company's risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls in line with the Company's Risk Appetite.
• Identify risk-related issues that need escalation to management.
• Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
• Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points and any issues raised by external regulators.
• Complete other related duties as assigned.

Scope of Responsibilities

The Management Development Program is a non-rotational, one-year training program for recent college graduates. Participants learn about sales, accounting, project management, and leadership skills depending on their career track. Training methods include classroom study, divisional orientations, and teamwork on group projects, coupled with on-the-job training for immediate application in the area of hire.

Education and Experience Required

• Bachelor's Degree candidate at a school where M&T Bank recruits MDPs (or an MBA student with no work experience).
• Outstanding academic credentials (GPA of 3.0 or better).
• Up to 1 year of work experience.
