Intern - Category Supplier Management

Internship Overview

As a Category Supplier Management Intern, you will support category management and strategic sourcing initiatives that drive business value across Micron's global procurement organization. You will gain hands-on experience in cost analysis, supplier management, sourcing strategy, market intelligence, and AI-enabled process improvement while partnering with procurement professionals and business partners worldwide.

Responsibilities

• Support category management and strategic sourcing activities through market research, supplier analysis, benchmarking, and category strategy development.
• Assist with cost analysis, should-cost modeling, and market intelligence activities to identify savings opportunities and support business decisions.
• Collaborate with Category Managers, suppliers, and internal partners to support procurement objectives and supplier relationship management efforts.
• Analyze sourcing trends, supplier performance, and procurement metrics to develop recommendations and drive continuous improvement.
• Support AI adoption initiatives by identifying use cases, developing training resources, tracking adoption metrics, and promoting responsible use of AI-enabled solutions.

Minimum Qualifications

• 0-2 years of relevant experience through internships, co-ops, research projects, academic projects, leadership activities, or professional experience in procurement, supply chain, business, analytics, engineering, or related fields.
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Project Management, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Expected graduation date after August 2027.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data and develop actionable recommendations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and other business productivity tools.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across global and cross-functional teams.
• Demonstrated interest in AI-enabled tools and technologies, including generative AI and large language models (LLMs) such as Copilot or Claude.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous internship, research, or project experience in procurement, sourcing, supply chain, operations, business analytics, or project management.
• Experience analyzing data using Excel, Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Python, or similar analytical tools.
• Knowledge of procurement, category management, supplier management, strategic sourcing, or supply chain concepts.
• Experience applying AI tools, automation, or data-driven technologies to improve business processes and workflows.
• Demonstrated leadership through student organizations, project teams, community involvement, or work experience.
• Strong interest in procurement transformation, supplier strategy, digital innovation, and continuous improvement.
