Electromechanical Technician Apprentice Program

GSK's Electromechanical Technician Apprentice Program is a full-time, entry-level opportunity for high school graduates and community college students. Apprentices start their careers while working toward an associate degree, and GSK fully funds that degree, so there is no college debt.

The program suits motivated high school graduates interested in engineering who want to build a career in the biopharmaceutical industry. Apprentices develop hands-on technical skills in GSK's manufacturing facilities while continuing their education.

At the biopharmaceutical manufacturing site, you will help keep processes and equipment current, safe, efficient and reliable, supporting the medicines and vaccines GSK delivers to people in 90% of the world's countries.

Utilities Technician apprentices at Marietta spend about one day per week studying toward an Associate's degree in Biotechnology or Engineering at a partner community college. The rest of the week is spent in the manufacturing facilities, rotating through departments with tailored on-the-job training from in-house experts. Over the 3 to 4 year apprenticeship, you will follow a personal training plan to support your development.

What You Will Do

As an electromechanical technician apprentice, you may take part in activities such as:

  • Building hands-on mechanical, electrical, control and instrumentation skills.
  • Learning to maintain production equipment.
  • Carrying out routine maintenance.
  • Diagnosing and resolving breakdowns.
  • Helping design, install and test new equipment.
  • Working consistently in line with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Maintaining and calibrating a range of equipment so results stay accurate and precise.
  • Finding ways to improve the safety, efficiency and quality of manufacturing processes.

What We Offer
