The Schwab Advisor Services RIA Internship Program is a structured summer learning experience within Advisor Services. It serves as the overall RIA Program and may include placements across business areas that support independent Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) firms. Participants learn how Schwab partners with advisors through custody, trading, technology, and practice management solutions that help advisors serve clients and grow their businesses.

The program runs full-time and on site in Westlake, Texas, from June 7, 2027 through July 30, 2027. Participants combine experiential learning, educational programming, project work, and interaction with business professionals and the RIA industry. They build an understanding of advisor business operations, industry dynamics, and the financial services landscape. Interns work alongside Advisor Services teams, contribute to research and business initiatives, engage with internal and external stakeholders, and present key insights and recommendations in a professional setting.

Successful candidates show intellectual curiosity, strong communication skills, sound judgment, and a desire to learn. They enjoy analyzing information from multiple sources, collaborating to solve problems, and adapting quickly to new concepts and business challenges. Throughout the program, participants meet industry professionals, deepen their knowledge of the Registered Investment Advisor industry, and gain experience within a leading financial services organization.

What you have

Required Qualifications

• Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without employer sponsorship.
• Current college student pursuing a bachelor's degree.
• Ability to work full-time on site in Westlake, TX from June 7, 2027 through July 30, 2027.
• Clear and professional communication through written, verbal, and presentation-based interactions.
• Ability to analyze information, draw logical conclusions, and provide thoughtful insights.
• Proven ability to collaborate with peers, team members, and business professionals.
• Demonstrated accountability, reliability, and professionalism in academic, work, volunteer, or extracurricular settings.
• Strong interest in financial services, business operations, or the Registered Investment Advisor industry.
• Ability to learn new concepts quickly and apply feedback in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Currently enrolled with at least two years of college-level education toward a related Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree.
• Completed courses in CFP certification or financial planning, business management, marketing, economics, finance, accounting, communications, or related subjects.
• Desire to work in the RIA industry after graduation.
• Participation in extracurricular activities geared toward a career in financial services or the RIA industry.
• Coursework, projects, internships, leadership roles, or extracurricular involvement showing business, analytical, communication, or problem-solving skills.
• Exposure to financial services, investments, economics, business management, marketing, entrepreneurship, or related disciplines.
• Experience presenting findings, recommendations, or project outcomes to groups or stakeholders.
• Proven record of initiative, curiosity, and continuous learning.
