ASIC Hardware/Software Engineer Internship (Bristol)

Note: We accept students needing placements or extended internships. Internships can also take place during non-summer terms (winter, spring, or fall) if preferable.

What You Will Do

We are looking for brilliant engineering talent to join our ASIC team building next-generation, ultra-low-latency systems to power trading with machine learning and other algorithms on a global scale. This is an opportunity to work on complex problems in networking, high-performance computing, and real-time acceleration, where off-the-shelf hardware won't suffice. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

You will work alongside a small team of experienced engineers from leading companies in ASICs, FPGAs, semiconductors, and networking cards, as well as PhDs from top hardware research labs worldwide. Our team handles the entire process, from architecture and specification to design, test, and bring-up of a final product on a production board. We have achieved excellent results by hiring the best and focusing, with success in shorter time scales than typical at larger tech firms. Skills You Will Need

• Undergraduate or graduate concentration in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related areas
• Experience with ASIC, FPGA, or other hardware/systems design and development
• Experience with RTL (SystemVerilog/Verilog/VHDL)
• Previous internship experience in hardware or low-level software engineering
• Experience with C, C++, or Python
• Passion for solving complex problems and ability to draw on knowledge from various technical areas to produce high-performance solutions
• Reliable and predictable availability

Other Helpful and Related Experience

• lowRISC or RISC-V
• CocoTB
• Programming close to the metal with CPU, GPU, microprocessors, etc.
• Linux kernel and driver programming
• Robotics, Telecommunications, or High-Speed Networking
• Raspberry Pi or Arduino
• Static timing analysis and/or place and route tools
• Excellent marks in courses such as computer architecture, digital design, design verification, VLSI design

No finance or economics study or work experience required.
