Varda Space Industries entry level jobs & internships

Varda Space Industries is a pioneering aerospace startup focused on in-space manufacturing and orbital reentry logistics. Founded in 2020, Varda aims to leverage the unique microgravity environment of low Earth orbit to manufacture products—particularly pharmaceuticals and advanced materials—that are difficult or impossible to produce on Earth. The company develops autonomous spacecraft and reentry capsules designed to return manufactured goods safely to the ground, positioning itself as a key player in the emerging space economy.

Varda is headquartered in El Segundo, California, and has grown to a team of roughly 100 engineers, scientists, and operations specialists. The company is backed by prominent venture investors including Founders Fund and has established partnerships with major aerospace players like Rocket Lab for launch and satellite bus services. Its market position is notable as one of the few startups focused on end-to-end orbital manufacturing and return logistics, competing in a niche that includes companies like SpaceX's in-space manufacturing initiatives and other commercial space stations.

In 2024, Varda achieved a major milestone with its W-1 mission, successfully returning a capsule from orbit and landing it in the Utah desert—marking the first commercial reentry and recovery of a US spacecraft. The mission carried pharmaceutical crystals grown in microgravity, demonstrating the company's core value proposition. This success has positioned Varda as a leader in the commercial reentry and space manufacturing sector, with future missions planned to expand production capabilities and reentry services.
