Summer Internship Program

WEX’s Summer Internship Program is designed to provide hands-on experience in a fast-paced, innovative environment. As an intern, you will collaborate with professionals across multiple teams, working on projects that directly impact the company. This 13-week internship (late May to mid-August) offers a paid opportunity to gain practical industry experience, enhance technical skills, and develop leadership abilities. The program offers remote, hybrid, and onsite options, ensuring flexibility. Exceptional interns may have the opportunity to secure full-time employment or extended internships within WEX.

Key Responsibilities

As a Software Engineering Intern, you will:

  • Develop Python scripts to automate data processing tasks.
  • Write efficient SQL queries to extract, transform, and analyze data.
  • Collaborate with the data engineering team to design and implement ETL/ELT pipelines.
  • Build and maintain data pipelines to integrate data from multiple sources into Snowflake.
  • Develop data processing solutions using PySpark for scalable data transformations.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving data engineering best practices.
  • Support ad-hoc data requests and troubleshoot data issues.
  • Document technical processes and contribute to maintaining data quality standards.

Must-Have Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of ETL concepts and data integration processes.
  • Proficiency in Python for data processing and automation.
  • Strong SQL skills for data extraction and manipulation.
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with ETL tools (e.g., IICS, AWS Glue).
  • Experience with Hadoop, Spark, DataBricks, Snowflake, or other cloud-based data warehouses.
  • Knowledge of financial systems and data modeling concepts is a plus.
  • Prior internship or project experience in data engineering or data science is preferred.

The base pay range represents the expected salary range for this position. Actual pay rates will depend on qualifications, skills, and experience.
