Summer Internship: Tooling & Logistics Engineer

Job Description

Airbus is looking for a Summer Intern - Tooling & Logistics Engineer to join our Customer Services team based in Mobile, AL.

In this role you will contribute to an initiative aiming at supporting the development activities of Airbus working parties in the region.

Meet the Team

The Customer Support team provides aircraft operations support throughout the aircraft's operational life. The team coordinates, implements and monitors all services customized to meet the customer's specific needs, to ensure a positive customer relationship. Our Field Service teams provide technical support so our customers can operate safely and efficiently. Being based at our customers' facilities enables us to have a strong customer relationship and understanding of the airline's technical and operational needs.

Your Working Environment

In Mobile, AL on 'Airbus Way,' you will find the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility for commercial aircraft. Opened at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley in 2015, the facility produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019. The facility, which strengthens the U.S. aerospace industry, is part of Airbus's strategy to enhance its global competitiveness by meeting the growing needs of its customers in the United States and beyond.

Your Challenges

Main point of contact for all procurement activities related to the Working-Parties:

• Oversee general procurement efforts, particularly the expansion of the warehouse in Mobile for the Major Repair project, including items like hand tools, cutting tools, machine tools, PPE.
• Collaborate with the Procurement and logistic team to define and create technical specifications for required materials.
• Coordinate with the warehouse manager to address emerging needs.
• Manage budget and KPIs in partnership with the warehouse manager with a creation of dashboard (status & performance).
• Assist the Procurement team in identifying and engaging local suppliers.
• Update the General Procurement catalog with new items and suppliers.

Mobile FAL Part 145 synergy (D100 Opspec):

• Define and document all MOB FAL Part 145 requirements based on local regulations and Airbus Working-Party needs.
• Work closely with the Quality department to ensure compliance with Part 145 regulations and coordinate activities between two different Part 145 organizations.
• Source suppliers for Ground Support Equipment (GSE), including forklifts, vehicles, etc.
• Develop technical specifications for the Procurement team.

Warehouse and Working-Party Relocation:

• Plan and manage the transfer of the Warehouse and Working-Party team for future relocation.
• Coordinate the logistics of transferring Working-Party activities to new warehouse, including tools, materials, and documentation.
• Suggest improvements for the new warehouse setup.

Additional Responsibilities:

Perform administrative tasks to support the working party deployment such as:

• Visa preparation
• Drug & Alcohol test follow up
• Support the HO Maintenance Personnel & Warehouse Activities

Your Boarding Pass

Required:

• Ability to work onsite in Mobile, AL for the duration of the summer internship
• Currently enrolled in accredited degree program studying Supply Chain Management, Aviation Management, and Industrial Engineering or other related program
• Fluency in written and spoken English
• Authorized to work in the US without current, or future, visa sponsorship

Preferred:

• You have a technical background (you have worked on assembly line or industrial environment)
• Ideally you have experiences on aircraft tools and methods
• Spanish language skills is a plus

Physical Requirements

• Onsite or remote: 80% on site.
• Vision: able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings.
• Hearing: able to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on the production floor including safety warnings or alarms.
• Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications.
• Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts.
• Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
• Lifting: able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
• Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools.
• Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer.
• Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.
• Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor.
• Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice.
• Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces.
• Personal Protective Equipment could be required if in an area that requires PPE. Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site.
