RTX Hiring Software Engineering Co-op (Cedar Rapids)

About the Role

Join a team developing world-class computing platforms that power critical aircraft flight and mission systems. Your software will take off, soar, and return safely as part of advanced avionics used across military and commercial aviation.

What You Will Do

• Design, develop, and maintain flight-critical embedded software for next-generation aviation and mission solutions.
• Work hands-on with embedded Linux, C/C++, networking protocols, device drivers, hardware interfaces, and simulation environments.
• Build high-integrity systems that meet rigorous safety, reliability, and airworthiness standards.
• Define requirements, implement features, develop test procedures, perform verification activities, and produce certification-ready artifacts.

Qualifications You Must Have

• Must be pursuing a Bachelor's or Advanced degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.
• Must have a minimum of 90 credit hours by the start of the internship/co-op session.
• Strong development experience with C and C++.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Prior RTX internship, co-op, or work experience.
• Collaboration skills for working across engineering teams on design and implementation.
• Clear and effective written and verbal communication.

This is a full-time, Monday-Friday co-op session running January-August, including the Spring semester. It is expected students will take a semester off from coursework to fully engage with this working mentorship opportunity.

This role is onsite. Employees working in onsite roles will work primarily onsite.
