The Pharmacy Intern will be responsible for the interpretation and data entry of moderately complex prescriptions, prior authorization processing, and troubleshooting adjudication issues.

How you will make an impact:

• Assists in developing and configuring prior authorization decision trees in the workflow tool.
• Participates in quality assurance feedback from pharmacists on prior authorization decision trees within the workflow tool.
• Assists in implementing clinical programs within the prior authorization space.
• Verifies member, provider, and drug information and inputs data for the prior authorization pharmacists.
• Educates providers on pharmacy-based rules related to prescriptions and medication resources or assistance programs.
• Processes prior authorization requests from physicians' offices and ensures compliance with Medicare and Medicaid requirements; informs relevant parties of all prior authorization determinations.

Minimum requirements:

• Ability to work 20 hours per week for the duration of the internship.
• Currently enrolled in a Pharmacy program at an accredited college or university.
• A current, active, unrestricted Pharmacist Intern license in applicable state(s) required.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences:

• 1st and 2nd year PharmD students are preferred.
• Prior experience working in pharmacy retail strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Excellent public speaking and presentation skills.

This role enables associates to work virtually full-time, with the exception of required in-person training sessions, providing maximum flexibility and autonomy. The ideal candidate will reside within a commutable distance from our PulsePoint locations.
