What You Will Do

As a Mechanical Design Engineering Intern at Collins Aerospace, you will:

• Support through all phases of design including: bid and proposal, conceptual design, preliminary design, detailed design, qualification testing, new product introduction, and production implementation.
• Successfully execute on design/project tasks required to develop and qualify aircraft ejection seats by ensuring technical scope integrity and budget/schedule accuracy.
• Utilize SolidWorks/UG/NX CAD software and facilitate the drafting department to produce standard, quality, and industry producible models/drawings.
• Work as part of a cohesive team with test engineering, product engineering, system engineering, and program management.
• Support program through technical writing presentations and reports for customer approval.
• Support Program Management with any preparation of bids and proposals.
• Support Systems Engineering on requirements analysis and the requirement compliance plan.

Qualifications You Must Have

• Must be pursuing Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.
• Experience with 3D computer aided design (CAD) software such as SolidWorks, NX, UG (Unigraphics) and/or Catia.

Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Previous experience or coursework with machining, sheet metal, composites, and fabric design.
• Analytical skills including experience with physics, dynamics, and statics.
• Experience presenting design solutions to internal and external customers.
• Prior RTX internship, co-op, or work experience.
• Experience with mechanical principles to solve classical structural analysis solutions both inside and outside of finite element tools.
