Job Overview

This Manufacturing Engineering CO-OP position offers an engineering student the chance to provide technical support for daily manufacturing needs, with an emphasis on process improvements. Guided by a Manufacturing Engineering coach, the student will support projects and implement mistake-proof solutions to prevent recurrence and meet operational cost standards.

What You Will Do

• Support the setup and operation of various manufacturing and test equipment.
• Assist in testing electromechanical units using prescribed test procedures and print requirements.
• Help configure or verify regular test equipment for special tests.
• Interpret and record test results.
• Read and interpret assembly and test instructions, engineering prints, and schematics.
• Use computer systems for work instructions, labor charging, prints, and standards.
• Process material requisitions following established procedures.
• Support evaluation, disposition, and implementation of corrective actions for non-conforming materials.
• Promote mistake-proofing solutions.
• Recognize and resolve work area issues.
• Maintain accurate records of all work performed.
• English (read, write, speak) is required for communication with customers, co-workers, or supervisors who only speak English.

Qualifications You Must Have

• 3+ years of studies toward a BS in Engineering, preferably Computer, Industrial, Electrical, or Mechanical.
• Good reading, writing, and math skills.
• Good computer skills (MS Office; Word and Outlook) with daily computer use.
• Understanding of electronic circuitry and electrical components theory.
• Ability to read and interpret assembly/test instructions, engineering standards, prints, and schematics.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Use diagnostic and hand tools.
• Understand and operate electronic test equipment.
• Handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• CAD design capability (NX, SolidWorks preferred).
• Java, PHP, MATLAB programming capability preferred.

Additional Information

This is a full-time, Monday-Friday co-op running from January to June. Students are expected to take a semester off from coursework to fully engage in this working mentorship opportunity. The position is onsite at the Santa Isabel site. Candidates must reside in Puerto Rico during the co-op period.

This position is classified as Onsite: Employees in onsite roles work primarily onsite, including all production and maintenance employees. Commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee's personal responsibility.
