We are seeking curious, collaborative, and motivated talent to help shape the future of Immunology.
The Johnson & Johnson Immunology Internship Program offers a full-time, immersive learning experience within Immunology Therapeutic Area Research and Development. Interns contribute to meaningful projects, engage with leaders and colleagues across functions, and build practical skills through structured learning, mentorship, and exposure to the drug development process. The program is designed to foster professional growth while giving interns an opportunity to support innovative immunology research and clinical development.
Designed to cultivate the next generation of talent, the program helps interns develop scientific, technical, and professional capabilities while exploring career opportunities in the pharmaceutical industry. The internship spans approximately three months, from May 17 through August 6, 2027, in Spring House, PA or La Jolla, CA, or from June 14 through September 10, 2027, based at the La Jolla, CA campus for those on the quarter system.
As a Translational Science and Medicine (TSM) Scientist Intern, you will join a multidisciplinary team advancing innovative therapeutics for immune-mediated diseases. With guidance from an assigned mentor, you will complete a defined research project aligned with team priorities and gain hands-on experience in pharmaceutical research and development. Depending on the project, you may investigate disease biology, evaluate therapeutic targets or mechanisms of action, explore biomarkers of response or resistance, and generate or analyze translational data using human samples, experimental models, or relevant datasets.
You may receive training in project-specific laboratory and analytical methods, including techniques such as ELISA, PCR, DNA sequencing, flow cytometry, cell culture, and cell-based functional assays. You will learn to plan and execute experiments, maintain accurate records, analyze and interpret results, troubleshoot scientific challenges, and communicate findings clearly. Throughout the internship, you will collaborate with colleagues across scientific and cross-functional teams in a global matrix environment. You will present progress and results to relevant project teams and conclude the program by preparing and presenting an abstract or poster at the organization-wide research symposium.
