About the Role & Program
ABC7 is looking for motivated, curious, and enthusiastic students with a passion for local news and storytelling. This internship provides hands-on experience alongside both the Eyewitness News Morning team and the Special Projects unit, offering a unique chance to learn the fast-paced world of daily news production.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, thrives in a collaborative environment, can manage multiple tasks at once, and has a strong interest in local news.
The approximate dates of this internship are January 2027 through early June 2027 with the schedule to support the Morning News team of Monday through Friday, 4am – 12pm PT.
What You Will Do
- Coordinate guest appearances for Eyewitness News Morning broadcasts and streaming newscasts, including tracking arrivals and assisting with studio setup and logistics
- Support producers, anchors, and the morning news team with daily production tasks and newsroom operations
- Assist with social media content creation
- Collaborate with the Special Projects team to research, pitch, and develop story ideas for daily and long-form coverage
- Scout social media platforms for content ideas involving consumer, entertainment, and investigative pieces
- Log interviews and identify key soundbites for use in broadcast, digital, and streaming content
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Basic knowledge of television production and newsroom workflows
- Familiarity with major social media platforms and digital content trends
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Teams, and/or other collaboration tools
- High attention to detail and experience multitasking in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (academic or internship) in journalism (print and/or broadcast); television, news and new media production; and/or television news script writing
- Completed coursework in producing, writing, or editing
Education
- Junior or Senior year preferred
Eligibility Requirements & Internship Information
Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:
- Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class at time of application posting OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Possess unrestricted work authorization
- Have not completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or Disney College Program
Additional Information
- Able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship
- The approximate dates of this internship are January 2027 through early June 2027
- Fully available to work 40 hours per week during a Monday through Friday schedule, 4am – 12pm PT
- Able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship program in the Glendale, California area
- Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work
The pay rate for this role in California is $18.47 per hour. Select benefits may be provided as part of the compensation package, such as medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
